12/18  UNION CITY PARKS AND RECREATION WILL SEND LETTERS FROM SANTA FOR ALL REQUESTS RECEIVED BY THURSDAY AT NOON.    PARENTS ARE ASKED TO CALL THE PARK OFFICE AT 885-0354 OR VISIT THEIR WEBSITE UCPARK.COM FOR DETAILS.  YOU CAN ALSO GO BY CITY HALL, FILL OUT A FORM AND PUT IT IN THE SANTA LETTERS BOX.  LETTERS WILL BE SENT TO ANY ADDRESS IN THE UNITED STATES.


12/18  A MANPOWER HIRING EVENT WILL BE HELD FROM 10AM-2PM ON THURSDAY AT THE CAMDEN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL GYM.  MANPOWER IS SEEKING TO FILL UP TO 30 POSITIONS INCLUDING GENERAL LABOR, PRODUCTION, ASSEMBLY AND MANUFACTURING IN PARIS, CAMDEN, MILAN, BIG SANDY, HUNTINGDON AND MCKENZIE.  PAY RATES RANGE FROM $7.25 TO $12 PER HOUR. 12/18  THE SOUL FOOD CAFÉ AT EXCHANGE STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST IN UNION CITY WILL BE OPEN ON THURSDAY STARTING AT 5:30PM.  THE MENU THIS WEEK CONSISTS OF CHICKEN & DRESSING, GREEN BEANS, CORN ON THE COB, SALAD AND DESSERTS.  PLUS, THERE WILL BE PICTURES WITH SANTA CLAUS AND ALL KIDS WILL GET CANDY CANES.  AS ALWAYS, EVERYTHING IS COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE.

12/19  A FREE “POLAR EXPRESS” EVENT WILL BE HELD AT THE W.G. RHEA LIBRARY ON FRIDAY FROM 5:30PM-7:30PM.  THE EVENT WILL INCLUDE TRAIN RIDES, CRAFTS, PHOTOS, HOT COCOA, COOKIE DECORATING, SANTA AND A SHOWING OF THE MOVIE “THE POLAR EXPRESS”.

12/24  FREE CHRISTMAS TREE PERMITS FOR LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLINE AT LANDBETWEENTHELAKES.US OR AT THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES.  A PERMIT ENTITLES A FAMILY TO CUT ONE CEDAR TREE ANYWHERE IN THE LBL (EXCEPT DESIGNATED AREAS) UNTIL DECEMBER 24TH.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 800-525-7077.

12/31  COME CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR AT PARIS LANDING STATE PARK.  24-SEVEN WILL PLAY THE PARIS LANDING CONFERENCE CENTER FROM 9PM-1AM.  TICKETS ARE $25 PER PERSON OR $200 FOR A TABLE OF TEN.  PARIS LANDING STATE PARK INN HAS A $129 PACKAGE THAT INCLUDES A ROOM FOR TWO, NEW YEAR’S EVE BUFFET AND BREAKFAST BUFFET ON NEW YEAR’S DAY.  TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE IN ADVANCE AT FISHTALE LODGE WITH CREDIT CAR & FOUNDATION BANK WITH CASH OR YOU CAN GET THEM RIGHT AT THE DOOR WITH CASH ON NEW YEAR’S EVE.

12/31  THE TWRA WILL STOCK TROUT IN PONDS IN PARIS, UNION CITY, MARTIN AND MCKENZIE ON JANUARY 14TH.  THE TROUT WILL AVERAGE 10” IN LENGTH.  THE DAILY CREEL LIMIT IS SEVEN, BUT THERE IS NO SIZE LIMIT.  YOU WILL NEED A TROUT STAMP WITH YOUR LICENSE TO FISH FOR TROUT.  TO FIND OUT MORE, GO TO TNWILDLIFE.ORG.

1/1  THE ANNUAL “SHIVER ON THE RIVER” EVENT WILL KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR AT PARIS LANDING STATE PARK MARINA BOAT RAMP ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 1ST.  IT’S $25 AND THAT INCLUDES YOUR PLUNGE IN THE LAKE, A SOUVENIR T-SHIRT AND BRUNCH AT PARIS LANDING INN.  REGISTRATION STARTS AT 10:30AM AND THE PLUNGE STARTS AT 11AM.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE REAL HOPE YOUTH CENTER.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET SIGNED UP, CALL 731-333-1320.

1/2  LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2015 SEASONAL CAMPING PROGRAM.  THERE ARE A TOTAL OF 113 CAMPSITES IN THE SEASONAL CAMPING PROGRAM AVAILABLE FOR TWO TO NINE MONTHS AT HILLMAN FERRY, PINEY AND WRANGLERS CAMPGROUND.  CRAVENS BAY AND TAYLOR BAY CAMPGROUNDS HAVE A TOTAL OF 21 SHORT-TERM SITES AVAILABLE.  COMPLETE APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY JANUARY 2ND.  TO FIND OUT MORE, GO TO LANDBETWEENTHELAKES.US OR CALL 270-924-2044.
