7/7  MANPOWER WILL HOST A HIRING EVENT ON TUESDAY FROM 11AM-2PM AT GOODWILL CAREER SOLUTIONS IN UNION CITY.  MANPOWER SEEKS TO HIRE OVER 20 FORKLIFT OPERATOR, WELDER, PRODUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND CLERICAL POSITIONS IN UNION CITY, MARTIN AND TRENTON.  PAY RATE IS $7.25-$15 PER HOUR BASED ON EXPERIENCE.  THE TENNESSEE CAREER COACH WILL ALSO BE ON SITE TO HELP WITH VARIOUS JOB LEADS.  BRING YOUR RESUME, PHOTO ID, SOCIAL SECURITY CARD AND COME PREPARED TO INTERVIEW.

7/10  THE OBION COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY WILL HOST ANOTHER CHILDREN’S CRAFT ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON FROM 2PM-3PM.  THE “BLAST OFF” EVENT WILL LET CHILDREN MAKE JET PACKS AND SUPER CUFFS TO GO WITH CAPES, MASKS OR ANY OTHER SUPER OUTFIT THEY MAY ALREADY HAVE AT HOME.  PLUS, THEY’LL MAKE INCREDIBLE HULK PUDDING CUPS AND CHEESE SNACKS THAT LOOK LIKE THOR’S HAMMER.  THE EVENT IS FOR AGES 6-11 AND THERE IS JUST A $5 SUPPLY.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET REGISTERED, CALL 885-7000.

7/11  THERE WILL BE A “FORGET ME NOT IN THE VINEYARD” FUNDRAISER AT THE PARIS WINERY ON SATURDAY NIGHT FROM 6PM-10PM.  TICKETS ARE $25 AND THEY INCLUDE A T-SHIRT, A CONCERT BY “THE CONCH FRITTERS” AND A FREE WINE TASTING.  THIS IS AN ALZHEIMER FUNDRAISING EVENT.  TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE PARIS WINERY OR BY CALLING 731-333-2042.

7/12  THERE WILL BE A BENEFIT FOR ASSISTANT PARIS LANDING FIRE CHIEF TAMMY HINSON ON SUNDAY FROM 2PM-6PM AT MATT’S PUB ON HIGHWAY 79 IN PARIS.  HINSON IS RECOVERING FROM A SERIOUS SURGERY, SO FAMILY AND FELLOW FIREFIGHTERS ARE TRYING TO RAISE AS MUCH AS THEY CAN TO HELP HER PAY FOR MEDICAL BILLS AND EXPENSES.  A “GOFUNDME” ACCOUNT HAS ALSO BEEN SET UP TO HELP RAISE MONEY FOR HINSON WITH A GOAL OF $7500. 7/18  THE PARIS YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE WILL HOLD SIGN-UPS AT THE PARIS CIVIC CENTER ON SATURDAY, JULY 11TH AND SATURDAY, JULY 18TH FROM 9:30AM-NOON EACH DAY.  TRY OUTS WILL BE AT BARTON FIELD AT 9:45AM ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 15TH.  THE COST IS $40 PER PARTICIPANT.

7/18  WRANGLERS CAMPGROUND WILL HOST THE 19TH ANNUAL PRIMITIVE RODEO ON FRIDAY, JULY 17TH AND SATURDAY, JULY 18TH AT LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA.  EVENTS INCLUDE BAREBACK RIDING, SADDLE BRONC RIDING, STEER WRESTLING, BULL RIDING AND MORE.  ADMISSION IS $10 FOR AGES 13-59, $8 FOR 60 AND UP, $6 FOR AGES 7-12 AND FREE FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 6.  BRING LAWN CHAIRS AND BLANKETS FOR SEATING.

7/21  UNION CITY CIVITAN WILL HOST THEIR OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT JULY 24TH – JULY 26TH AT THE UNION CITY COURTS NEXT TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.  THERE ARE BOTH SINGLES AND DOUBLES CATEGORIES FOR GIRLS & BOYS AND MEN & WOMEN.  ENTRY FEE IS $20 PER PERSON FOR ONE EVENT OR $15 PER PERSON IF ENTERED IN TWO OR MORE EVENTS.  ENTRY FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN BY TUESDAY, JULY 21ST.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 731-885-9730.

7/25  TITAN TIRE WILL HOST “AG DAY” AT THEIR UNION CITY FACILITY ON SATURDAY, JULY 25TH FROM 9AM-5PM.  THE EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND FEATURES A TIRE AUCTION, LIVE MUSIC, FOOD AND MORE.  ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE AUCTION AND FOOD SALES WILL GO TO FFA CHAPTERS IN NORTHWEST TENNESSEE AND WESTERN KENTUCKY.  FOR MORE INFORMATION, CALL 446-7295.

7/31  REELFOOT LAKE STATE PARK INVITES EVERYONE TO ENJOY THE LAKE BY TAKING A SCENIC PONTOON BOAT TOUR.  3 HOUR CRUISES ARE OFFERED DAILY AT 9AM, 1 HOUR CRUISES ARE OFFERED ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS AND SUNSET CRUISES ARE AVAILABLE ON SATURDAY NIGHTS AT 6PM.   GUEST ARE INVITED TO BRING SOFT DRINKS AND SNACKS TO MAKE THEIR TRIP MORE DELIGHTFUL.  TO MAKE RESERVATIONS, CALL 731-253-9652.
