11/20  HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WILL SPONSOR A SPAGHETTI SUPPER AND BAKE SALE ON THURSDAY FROM 4:30PM-7PM AT THE FULTON FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FELLOWSHIP HALL.  IT’S ALL YOU CAN EAT FOR JUST $6.

11/20  THE PARIS HENRY COUNTY YOUTH ORCHESTRA WILL BE THURSDAY NIGHT STARTING AT 7PM AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH.  THIS WILL BE A JOINT CONCERT WITH THE HENRY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL MADRIGALS.

11/20  THE HENRY COUNTY FAMILY AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLUBS WILL PRESENT “HOMEMAKERS HOLIDAY” ON THURSDAY FROM 9AM-2PM AT THE HENRY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS.  THERE WILL BE A VARIETY OF HOMEMADE ITEMS FOR SALE LIKE PIES, CAKES, CHICKEN & DRESSING, WHITE BEANS & CORNBREAD, CASSEROLES AND MUCH MORE.  PLUS, THERE WILL ALSO BE HANDCRAFTED ITEMS FOR SALE THAT MAKE GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFTS.  ADMISSION IS FREE AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO COME OUT TO THE ENOCH BUILDING.

11/21  THE CHIMES FOR CHARITY OFFICE IS NOW OPEN IN UNION CITY.  IF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY NEEDS A CHRISTMAS BASKET THIS YEAR OR IF YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE IN NEED, CALL THE CHIMES OFFICE BETWEEN 9AM-NOON AT THEIR NEW NUMBER 731-599-4542.  YOU MAY SUBMIT NAMES BETWEEN NOW AND FRIDAY.  THIS YEAR’S FUNDRAISING GOAL IS $55,000.

11/21  THE PARIS LIONESS CLUB ANNUAL LUNCHEON WILL BE ON FRIDAY FROM 11AM-1:30PM IN KETCHUM HALL AT GRACE EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN PARIS.  IT’S ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT SOUP, SANDWICH, DESSERT AND DRINK FOR JUST $8.  TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE FROM ANY CLUB MEMBER OR RIGHT AT THE DOOR.  A COUNTRY STORE WILL BE SET UP WITH FOOD AND CRAFT ITEMS TOO.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 642-1299.

11/22  THERE WILL BE A BAKE SALE AT ST. JAMES EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN UNION CITY ON SATURDAY STARTING AT 9AM.  THEY’LL HAVE PIES, CASSEROLES, SOUPS, COOKIES, CANDIES AND MUCH MORE

11/22  THE FIRST-EVER LIFEBEAT PREGNANCY CENTER 5K RUN AND WALK-A-THON WILL BE SATURDAY AT BLUE BANK RESORT, ON THE SOUTHERN BANKS OF REELFOOT LAKE.  REGISTRATION STARTS AT 7:30AM AND THE RACE BEGINS AT 8:30AM.  THE ENTRY FEE IS ONLY $25 IF YOU PRE-REGISTER BEFORE SATURDAY OTHERWISE IT IS $30 ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.  PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE OPERATIONAL FUND OF LIFEBEAT.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 731-445-8896.

11/22  THE WOODLANDS NATURE STATION AT LBL WILL HOST “CUB SCOUT DAY” ON SATURDAY FROM 10AM-3PM.  ACTIVITIES, PROGRAMS AND DISPLAYS WILL CENTER AROUND THE CUB SCOUT ASTRONOMY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TO HELP SCOUTS GAIN THEIR BELT-LOOP AND PIN AWARDS.  THE CUB SCOUT PROGRAM IS FREE WITH NATURE STATION ADMISSION:  $5 FOR AGES 13 & OVER, $3 FOR CHILDREN 5-12 AND 4 & UNDER ARE FREE.

11/22  THE 11TH ANNUAL “EMPTY BOWL” FUNDRAISER WILL BE SATURDAY FROM 11AM TO 1PM IN THE LITTLE THEATER OF UTM’S FINE ARTS BUILDING.  FOR A $10 DONATION, PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE AN ORIGINAL BOWL FROM UTM CERAMIC STUDENTS.  BOWLS ARE FILLED WITH HOMEMADE SOUP, AND ALL PROCEEDS GO TO WE CARE MINISTRIES TO HELP FIGHT HUNGER.

11/23  7th ANNUAL “CHRISTMAS IN PARIS SHOPPING EXTRAVAGANZA” WILL BE AT THE PARIS CONVENTION CENTER ON SATURDAY FROM 9AM TO 5PM AND ON SUNDAY FROM NOON TO 4PM.  THE EVENT WILL FEATURE OVER 60 VENDORS SELLING A WIDE VARIETY OF UNIQUE AND CREATIVE ITEMS.  PLUS, THE DANA CORPORATION RELAY FOR LIFE TEAM WILL BE ON HAND SELLING CONCESSIONS LIKE HAMBURGERS, HOT-DOGS, FUNNEL CAKES AND MORE.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 363-5179

11/23  THE KRIDER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER WILL PRESENT  WELCOME TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD” FROM THE AWARD WINNING CHILDREN’S PROGRAM, “MR ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AT 3PM.  THE SHOW IS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR CHILDREN IN PRE-SCHOOL THROUGH 2ND GRADE BUT IT’S A FUN-FILLED HOUR THE WHOLE FAMILY WILL ENJOY.  TICKETS ARE $5 AND THEY’RE AVAILABLE AT THE PARIS CIVIC CENTER, MERISON’S FURNITURE AND LEACH’S MUSIC.  FIND OUT MORE AT KIRDERCENTER.COM.

11/24  LIFELINE BLOOD SERVICES WILL MAKE SEVERAL STOPS IN OUR AREA THIS MONTH.  YOU CAN GIVE BLOOD AT HEATLHQUEST IN UNION CITY ON MONDAY FROM NOON-7PM.  HELP GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON BY DONATATING AT ONE OF THESE STOPS.

11/27  THE SOUL FOOD CAFÉ AT THE EXCHANGE STREET CHURCH OF CHRIST IN UNION CITY WILL BE OPEN ON THANKSGIVING DAY, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH FROM NOON-2PM.  THEY WILL PROVIDE A FREE MEAL WITH SMOKED TURKEY AND ALL THE TRIMMINGS.

11/29  AN ALUMNI FOOTBALL GAME FEATURING FORMER PLAYERS FROM UNION CITY HIGH SCHOOL AND OBION COUNTY CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29TH AT WAR MEMORIAL STADIUM IN UNION CITY.  ALL FORMER PLAYERS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE “TURKEY BOWL”.  THE COST IS $100 PER PLAYER AND THAT DOES COVER ALL EQUIPMENT, A DVD AND ALUMNI SHIRT.  PRE-SALE TICKETS ARE $10 EACH, WITH HALF OF THE MONEY GOING INTO EACH SCHOOL’S FOOTBALL PROGRAM.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 731-335-3838.

12/1  THE HENRY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING PATRIOTS BAND ARE SELLING FRUIT AS WELL AS OTHER GOODIES FROM SALLY LANE’S CANDY FARM AND THE POPCORN FACTORY.  YOU CAN SEE ANY BAND STUDENT OR PARENT TO PLACE YOUR ORDERS.  ALL MONEY IS DUE AT THE TIME OF ORDER AND ORDERS ARE DUE BY DECEMBER 1ST.   ORDERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN BY DECEMBER 18TH.

12/5  THE DEADLINE TO PURCHASE TICKETS AND RIDE TO “JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAM COAT” AT THE TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5TH.  THE PARIS-HENRY COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL HAS PLENTY OF ROOM ON THEIR CHARTERED BUS FOR THE SHOWS IN FEBRUARY.  TICKETS ARE $85 PER PERSON AND THAT INCLUDES YOUR TICKET AND BUS RIDE TO AND FROM NASHVILLE.  IF INTERETED, CONTACT THE ART COUNCIL TO FIND OUT MORE AT 642-3955.

12/8  AUDITIONS FOR THE DIXIE PLAYER’S PRODUCTION OF “BIG:  THE MUSICAL” WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7TH AT 2PM AND MONDAY, DECEMBER 8TH AT 6PM AT THE DIXIE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN HUNTINGDON.  THE SHOW REQUIRES A WIDE VARIETY OF CHARACTERS FROM AGES 10 TO ADULT.  THE PRODUCTION WILL ALSO NEED PEOPLE WHO WISH TO HELP OUT WITH COSTUMES, PROPS AND SET.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 986-2100 (EXTENSION 224).

12/10  ENTRY FORMS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE 8TH ANNUAL “HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS PARADE” IN DOWNTOWN PARIS ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13TH.  THE CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 2PM-4:30PM WITH THE PARADE TO FOLLOW IMMEDITELY AFTERWARD.  FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT PARIS CITY HALL, THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, THE DPA OFFICE OR ONLINE AT VISITDOWNTOWNPARIS.COM.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 644-4539.

12/14  MASQUERADE THEATER WILL PRESENT THE CHRISTMAS CLASSIC “MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET” AT THE CAPITOL THEATER IN DOWNTOWN UNION CITY FOR TWO STRAIGHT WEEKENDS STARTING ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5TH.  FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT PERFORMANCES START AT 7:30PM AND SUNDAY AFTERNOON MATINEES START AT 2PM.  TICKETS ARE JUST $10 AND CAN BE PURCHASED ONLINE AT UCMASQUERADETHEATER.COM OR AT THE BOX OFFICE 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO SHOWTIME.

1/2  LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2015 SEASONAL CAMPING PROGRAM.  THERE ARE A TOTAL OF 113 CAMPSITES IN THE SEASONAL CAMPING PROGRAM AVAILABLE FOR TWO TO NINE MONTHS AT HILLMAN FERRY, PINEY AND WRANGLERS CAMPGROUND.  CRAVENS BAY AND TAYLOR BAY CAMPGROUNDS HAVE A TOTAL OF 21 SHORT-TERM SITES AVAILABLE.  COMPLETE APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY JANUARY 2ND.  TO FIND OUT MORE, GO TO LANDBETWEENTHELAKES.US OR CALL 270-924-2044.
