10/24  THERE WILL BE A BENEFIT FOR MICAH FUQUA, SON OF HENRY COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICER WAYNE FUQUA, ON FRIDAY FROM 10AM-2PM AT THE HENRY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS.  THERE WILL BE RIBEYE OR CHICKEN SANDWICHES, CHIPS AND A DRINK FOR $8.  YOU CAN PRE-ORDER BY CALLING THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AT 642-1672.  MICAH HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A GASTROINTESTINAL CONDITION KNOWN AS “FAP” AND IS CURRENTLY TRAVELING TO MARYLAND TO SEE A SPECIALIST.  ALL PROCEEDS WILL HELP THE FUQUA FAMILY WITH MEDICAL EXPENSES.

10/24  RIDGEMONT ELEMENTARY IS SPONSORING A BOOK FAIR AT THE SCHOOL THROUGH FRIDAY.  PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE WILL BE USED TO BUY NEW BOOKS AND SUPPLIES FOR THEIR LIBRARY.

10/24  THE W.G. RHEA LIBRARY IN PARIS WILL HAVE BASIC COMPUTER CLASSES FROM 5PM-7PM THIS FRIDAY AND AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH.  THE CLASSES ARE FREE TO THE PUBLIC, BUT REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.  CALL THE LIBRARY AT 642-1702 TO SIGN UP.

10/25  LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES WILL HOST THEIR 20TH ANNUAL HOWL-O-WEEN CHILDREN’S PROGRAM ON SATURDAY AT THE WOODLANDS NATURE STATION.  THE ¼ MILE HIKE WILL FEATURE COSTUMED ANIMAL CHARACTERS LIKE “BETTY THE BAT” AND “TRACY THE TREE FROG.  THE FIRST TOUR WILL LEAVE AT 1PM AND THE LAST TOUR LEAVES AT 4PM.  THE COST IS $5 PER PERSON AND INCLUDES ADMISSION TO THE NATURE STATION.  COSTUMES ARE WELCOMED AND ENCOURAGED.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 270-924-2299.

10/25  THE OBION COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY WILL HOST THEIR FREE KIDS HALLOWEEN PARTY ON SATURDAY IN THE CHILDREN’S ROOM AND SIDE LAWN OF THE LIBRARY FROM 1PM-3PM.  THERE WILL BE FACE PAINTING, GAMES, PRIZES, SNACKS AND EVERY 20 MINUTES LIBRARY STAFF WILL READ A SPOOKY STORY IN THE GAZEBO.  CHILDREN ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME DRESSED IN THEIR HALLOWEEN COSTUMES.

10/25  THE CAMDEN CRUISE-IN WILL BE SATURDAY ON THE CAMDEN COURT SQUARE IN BENTON COUNTY STARTING AT 3PM.  YOU CAN BRING OUT YOUR CLASSIC CARS, TRUCKS, HOT RODS & MOTORCYCLES.  PLUS, YOU CAN REGISTER FOR OVER $2,000 IN CASH AND DOOR PRIZES.  THERE IS NO ADMISSION OR ENTRY FEE.  DASH PLAQUES WILL BE ISSUED TO THE FIRST 80 ENTRANTS.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 731-584-2472.

10/26  THE JUNIOR AUXILARY OF OBION COUNTY’S CROWN CLUB WILL PRESENT THEIR “PUMPKINS IN THE PARK” EVENT ON SUNDAY FROM 12:30PM-2:30PM AT KIWANIS PARK IN DOWNTOWN UNION CITY.  THERE WILL BE FACE-PAINTING, DOOR PRIZES, CANDY AND A FREE PUMPKIN FOR THE KIDS.

10/27  THE DANA CORPORATION RELAY FOR LIFE TEAM WILL HOST A FALL PAINT PARTY ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND FROM 1PM-3PM AT THE DANA CORPORATION’S SPDC BUILDING 21.  THE COST IS $30 AND THAT INCLUDES ALL YOUR SUPPLIES TO PAINT YOUR OWN PUMPKIN ON CAVAS.  MELINDA HEARN, AN ARTIST FROM JACKSON, WILL GIVE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOU TO PAINT YOUR MASTERPIECE.  YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR SPOT BY MONDAY, OCTOBER 27TH, SO CALL 731-336-6207 FOR DETAILS.

10/31  MARTIN PARKS AND RECREATION WILL HAVE REGISTRATION FOR PARTICIPANTS IN THE 2ND THROUGH 8TH GRADE FOR THEIR YOUTH LEAGUE BASKETBALL PROGRAM OCTOBER 20TH THROUGH OCTOBER 31ST DURING REGULAR OFFICE HOURS.  PRACTICES WILL BEGIN THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 17TH AND THE SEASON WILL BEGIN IN JANUARY.  IT’S A $35 FEE TO PARTICIPATE.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 587-6784.

11/1  THE “MUTT STRUT” 5K RUN AND 1 MILE DOG WALK WILL BE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST AT UNION CITY HIGH SCHOOL.  REGISTRATION BEGINS AT 9AM AND THE EVENT BEGINS AT 10AM.  ENTRY FEE IS $20 IF YOU PAY BY OCTOBER 25TH, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE $25 ON RACE DAY.  REGISTRATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE IN ADVANCE AT SULLIVAN DENTISTRY AND ADVANCED ORTHOPEDIC & SPORTS MEDICINE.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT TENNESSEE DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH ANIMAL RESCUE. 

11/6  THE GOOD SAMARITAN HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER IN FULTON WILL HOST A “PRETTY IN PAINT” FUNDRAISER ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH FROM 2PM-5PM IN THE HARVEY VICK ROOM OF SOUTH FULTON CITY HALL.  A LOCAL ARTIST WILL GIVE STEP-BY-STEP INSTUCTIONS ON HOW YOU CAN CREATE AN 11X16 PAINTING THAT YOU CAN TAKE HOME.  THE COST IS $36 PER PERSON AND YOU MUST REGISTER BY THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH.  CALL 270-472-0009 TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT.

11/8  THE 36TH ANNUAL “REELFOOT ROAD RACE” WILL BE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH AT UNION CITY HIGH SCHOOL.  REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN AT 8:30AM AND THE EVENT WILL BEGIN AT 10AM.  THE RACE WILL FEATURE BOTH A 5K AND 10K COURSE.  REGISTRATION IS $12 IN ADVANCE OR $15 ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.  THE FIRST 150 ENTRANTS WILL RECEIVE A FREE T-SHIRT.   TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO PRINT OFF YOUR REGISTRATION FORM, GO TO REELFOOTROADRACE.COM.

11/14  HELPING HAND APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR ORGANIZATIONS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ANNUAL RADIO AUCTION THIS YEAR.  APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE PARIS PI OFFICE UNTIL 5PM ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH.
